Honey, I think that storm is heading right toward us!

We left Ditto Landing knowing there was rain forecasted to begin down-river from us in the mid-afternoon. It was a short run, 28 miles. As we were getting close to Riverwalk Marina in Decatur AL, our planned stop, the skies became rather cloudy, quickly overcast, and in short-order, quite threatening. We got in through the narrow channel to the dock no problem, but as we were trying to get into a slip, the gust front, the leading edge of the storm, was now kicking up nastily. After trying to get into the slip a couple times without breaking fiberglass, two Good Samaritans appeared in the high wind to grab our lines and help us get tied up. They were a Godsend. The storm broke heavily on us as we finished tying up.

Below, there is a short video of the storm (No, we are NOT under the dock roof. Our open slip is adjacent to it.), followed by a longer video made for the grandkids, who had asked their Mom where we changed our clothes and slept. While made with the little ones in mind, it will show off our palatial 300 sq ft floating tour boat.

Storm – Hard to see, but the lightening was coming straight down!!!

We stayed two days in Decatur to let the WX blow over and get a rest period, as we had been driving four to six hours a day to that point.
