So, when a boat runs for over four hours and you get a low battery warning … well, Houston, we have a problem. Under the category of battery recharge management, and with the help of Brandon and the team at Fox Road Marina (Knoxville, just upstream from our first night’s anchorage) we are the proud owners of a couple of new switch kits and ancillary materials needed to maximize our engine alternators.
Aren’t they pretty?! Okay, so there is definitely more to this improvement, but, because I will never share the technical solution accurately, let’s just say we are grateful Brandon interrupted his scheduled tasks to get us up and running more effectively!
As a bonus, since we were tied to a dock, Denis and Elias were able to share a special treat … PIZZA – and it was delivered right to the Marina!!!!
And under the category of ‘what is important to Suzanne’, a special shout out to Mike on Beyond the Buoy for letting us borrow his car!!! Not only were we able to grab more Milk and go out to eat, but, I was able to go to a Nail Salon! Mike is such a super guy. We cannot wait to catch up with them, as they will be starting their loop in October.
On Our Way…Again
It was the third day of our delay, and a little past three in the afternoon, but we were once again off and running. Our goal was a 16 mile run to an anchorage just outside the entrance of the Louden Lake Lock. The Lenoir Anchorage, just inside of the Lenoir Part Boat Ramp, was just the ticket. We chatted with the Lock Master regarding any known barges coming through in the morning. He advised he expected we would be good to go first thing in the morning and we fell asleep anticipating our first ever lock-thru.
