A Short Ride to Chattanooga, and an Aquarium
Leaving Sale Creek, it was 25 miles to the Chickamauga Lock. They were so accommodating. We called them an hour out, and they said to keep coming, no one else there. As we approached, the doors opened and we tied up with no delay. Almost like we owned the place. We have to say, the Lockmasters on the Tennessee were each and every one courteous and considerate. Outstanding public servants to the boating public.

Major Construction on the Chickamauga
Another 7 miles to Erwin Marine Riverfront in downtown Chattanooga, close to everything, we tied up mid-morning.
Being Eli’s last day with us, him needing to return for school opening, we went to the Chattanooga Aquarium. It has the 7th largest tank in the US – 680,000 gallons – holding 12,000 animals. It was a very good tour, with a massive open tank, full of fish, sharks, turtles and more.
Later we had dinner at the trendy Agave & Rye. Eli loved it, especially followed by a visit next door for ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery!
The next morning Eli and Denis began the car trek back up to the KY-TN border to meet up halfway with his Dad. By the time all of us had gotten home from 6 hours of driving, we were glad to be out of the cars. Nevertheless, it was a treat to have Eli with us, seeing the river sights, getting to swim, now knowing what it is to travel by boat.
